Note that there is no swimming possible directly at the lake’s 5 public waterings!
Not far from the Minka is the Woodcutter's Refuge, also at the northern end of Gabriel Bay.
Location on the edge of the lake, with floating dock. The refuge accommodates 4 people and is equipped with:
- Rustic table and benches;
- Wood stove;
- Beds (without mattresses).
The site has a dry toilet, a picnic table and a round for the fire.

Routes for land access (500 metre of medium to difficult level) walk on a trail from a small parking lot. Note also that the last stretch of road (Gabriel Bay Road), although usually drivable, consists of a side road and it is mostly recommended by truck or SUV.
